Brampton Active Transportation Advisory Committee and BikeBrampton welcomed Toronto folding-bike cyclists to join volunteers for a 17km Brampton Community Ride.
On a crisp Nov 2nd Sunday, Cyclists wheeled their “Fold&GO” Bromptons onto the Bloor GO train. We greeted eleven riders at Brampton Innovation District, in the heart of downtown.
Most of the riders had never brought their bikes on a GO train before! This opportunity demonstrated the value of using multi-modal transportation to visit new areas for tourism, and to consider using their bikes for commuting trips of a greater distance than a normal ride.
Most of our usual BikeBrampton rider leaders, marshals and sweepers showed up to escort our guests on a safe, fun ride for our group of 26.
Lisa Stokes designed our route to showcase Vodden/Howden bike lanes, Chinguacousy Park & Trail, Franceschini bridge, Etobicoke Creek Trail, finishing in Garden Square, beside the Rose Theatre.

It was a pleasant day, so we purchased coffee, hot chocolate, wraps and cookies from Segovia Coffee, then sat outside on Muskoka chairs for a visit with our guests.
This was a wonderful way to complete our series of 16 rides this season. Our friends want to return next year to make this an annual event.

Our special thanks to Janet Joy Wilson for organizing her Toronto group and producing this “joyful” video for her Instagram account:
