Cycling delivers community benefits
City building, particularly in the suburbs, has historically been based on methods and approaches that favour car travel, often at the exclusion of other forms of transport. Most residents and political leaders do not understand how cycling can make communities better. Studies have shown time and again, that encouraging cycling delivers many community benefits.
By focusing on car travel, city planners have engineered physical activity out of our daily routines leading to declining health outcomes. Encouraging walking or cycling for short trips can change that pattern.
BikeBrampton members educate and encourage city planners to think differently about how the roads and pathways in our community are designed.
BikeBrampton members receive certificate of recognition from Councillor Santos and Mayor Brown for 10th anniversary of BikeBrampton.
We delegate to Regional and City Council. We meet with City staff. We encourage community leaders to experience cycling events and activities leading to a better understanding of what’s possible when we leave outdated concepts behind.
