Costs

$50 for individuals

$80 for families including 2 adults and 2 children under 18.

By becoming a member you can rent out a bike through our bike library, attend a workshop, book a bikewrx station, purchase used parts, and access  tools, knowledge, and friendly guidance to maintain and repair your bicycle. Additionally, becoming a member of Different Spokes is a meaningful (and affordable) step in supporting Caledon & Brampton’s bicycling community!

Members do their own work
Mechanics and volunteers are available to provide support, advice and explanatory instruction. Staff and/or volunteers cannot fix your bike for you. Actual work is to be done by the member. Working with the mechanic, members are responsible for assessing their ability level relative to their project, including the time required to complete it. There are some great for-profit bike shops in town that will be able to help you if we’re all at a loss!

Repairs are not guaranteed
We can not guarantee that we can or will attempt (or guarantee) all (& any) repairs.
Bicycle repairs can be complicated and time-consuming. This means that Different Spokes may not have the tools, parts, or experience to help you with your project. We approach repairs on a case-by-case basis and reserve the right to turn some repairs/projects away. Volunteers and/or staff may make purchase recommendations, but there is no guarantee that this part will work or be appropriate for my bike. Please do your own research for any purchase decisions.

Respect the hours
We keep regular hours & we do not store bikes. Please have a plan for taking a bike project home that may not be rideable. We take our last appointment 90 minutes before closing. Walk-In appointments are not guaranteed, so please be sure to schedule an appointment. If you have a lot of work to do, make an earlier or multiple appointments to get it done.

Booking Workstations
The scheduling system is designed to enhance the overall efficiency and capacity of BikeWrx stations.

  1. Only one workstation will be reserved per appointment. If you have multiple bikes, make multiple appointments and provide this as a reason.
  2. Maximum of 2 bodies working on one bike at a time.
  3. Reschedule or cancel appointments at least one day before for sessions you can no longer make. Missing or arriving late for appointment(s) without canceling or rescheduling in advance, scheduling or multiple or duplicate appointments without reason, and/or not adhering to the code of conduct may result in Administrators cancelling your appointment(s).

Parts and tools available at Different Spokes

Used parts available at Different Spokes may only be used and/or installed at the Bike Hub. Using Different Spokes facilities, parts, and tools for profit is not allowed. This means no building bikes or buying parts to sell to others or charging others for work you’re doing while at the Hub.

Specific parts or accessories may not be available at Different Spokes.
We do have a small inventory of used and new parts but cannot guarantee that we have the parts you require. Best to plan ahead and make sure we have what you need or bring it in for your appointment. Local sources for parts include Mobile Pro, Highlands, Decathalon, Sport Chek, or Canadian Tire.

Footwear
Closed-toe shoes (ideally non-slip) are encouraged when working with tools and machinery.

Gasoline Powered Engines
For the safety volunteers, staff, and members who use the space, gasoline powered bicycles are not allowed inside of Different Spokes at any time.
