Brampton Cycling in Canada

Brampton Bike Hub showcased in EcoAction National Webinar.

Mentors, protégés, bike mechanics, CAN-Bike instructors, Brampton & Region of Peel Staff, Sonia Sidhu MP Staff and BikeBrampton members cheered loudly as David Laing updated the country on Brampton Cycling in Canada “4 Canadian Communities – If you Build it, They will Come: Increasing Cycling, Reducing Emissions”.

Edmonton, Montreal and Halifax joined Brampton Cycling in Canada in presenting their projects in the Vélo Canada Bikes EcoAction Community grant project from Environment and Climate Change Canada on Mar 28, 2018. Each city team is approaching the objective of encouraging locals to switch from car use to bikes for some or most of their transportation needs in a unique way.

29 participants gathered in a conference room at Brampton City Hall to hear the cycling messages from across Canada. Facing the camera on his laptop, David remarked that this is the first time he has presented with his back to his audience!

The goal is to reduce carbon by displacing short range car trips with cycling trips. The results are shown in the human stories, of lives impacted positively as we build our community with kindness, skills and fun!

BikeBrampton wishes to thank their local partners in the Brampton Bike Hub: PCHS (Punjabi Community Health Services), Walk + Roll Peel, Mobile Pro Bicycle Service (Peter Bolton), Bike Mechanic Gerald Pyjor, CANBike Instructor Alina Grzejszczak and of course, all our amazing volunteer members of BikeBrampton, mentors and protégés. City of Brampton is thanked for providing the webinar room and promoting the Brampton Bike Hub.
