Greg’s Ride 201523 Aug 2015, Posted by Past Event Cycling in
Greg’s Ride 2015 is Sunday Sept 27th at Kelso Conservation Area, Milton.
All across Ontario, people are riding their bikes in support of amazing causes. There are rides for heart, rides for cancer and rides for mental health – Greg’s Ride is Ontario’s ride in support of cycling.
Join us on Sunday, September 27th, 2015 for the 10th Annual Greg’s Ride, where 100% of the profits go towards supporting cycling advocacy and programs across Ontario. There are several ways to participate this year, whether you can be with us in Milton for the ride or not.
To support this ride, you can:
- Register to ride in one of our 3 ride distances
- Encourage your friends and family to join you
- Fundraise to receive a free jersey
- Volunteer and help bring this amazing event to life!
Also new this year, Greg’s Ride participants are eligible for a discounted room rate of $89+HST/night at the Mohawk Inn and Conference Centre. The hotel is less than 10 minutes away from the Kelso Conservation Area by car or a nice short 8.5km warm up ride by bike, and guests are welcome to bring their bikes into their hotel room. Contact the hotel directly for reservations.
Greg’s Ride History
In 2006, OPP Sergeant Greg Stobbart was killed while cycling on Tremaine Road in Milton. After Greg’s death, his wife Eleanor McMahon founded the Share the Road Cycling Coalition in his memory to advocate for safer roads for all Ontarians. This year, as we host the 10th annual ride in memory of Greg, we join together as a community to remember everyone who has been affected by cycling collisions, to celebrate the joys of cycling and to support the work of Share the Road in building safer, more accessible and more comfortable places to cycle in Ontario.
Register to Ride
We are working to once again offer 3 ride distances to participants. Precise ride distances are subject to change as we confirm all route permits with local officials.
Registration includes: on-route support and snack stations, a hot lunch, beverages from our friends at Steamwhistle, a participant race kit, access to Kelso Conservation Area, free on-site parking and a family-friendly post-ride celebration. Expect music, vendors, a silent auction, games, a children’s bicycle fun course and ‘Retire your Ride’ – bring your old, underused bikes to be donated to New Hope Community Bikes.
Early bird registration is open until end of day on August 29th:
Memorial Ride (approx. 16km) – $40
Middle Distance Ride (approx. 65km) – $70
